WHAT WE ARE - AND WHAT WE ARE NOT

We are not a large firm. What you see is what you get.

Although in my professional career I have worked in all sizes of accountancy firms ranging from, at one end of the scale, one of the four biggest accountancy firms in the world (as a Tax Manager) to at the other end a small local firm of just three partners and 15 staff which I helped to start in the late 1970's, none of them offered the kind of professional satisfaction which I sought.

After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant I went on to gain a specialist tax qualification with the Chartered Institute of Taxation whilst working as a Manager with a medium-tier firm in the City of London, before becoming a founding partner of a local firm in Bedfordshire.

Then in 1999 I decided that I really wanted was to work directly with smaller businesses and start-ups putting my experience of 25 years acting for and running small businesses at their disposal. This meant creating the right framework to do this by leaving the firm which I had helped to found and starting over again but using a much higher degree of technology to provide the necessary services at a cost which small firms could afford.

Although the Internet was then, in 1999, still in its infancy the decision was taken to put computers and the internet at the heart of everything that we do. We were an early adopter of paperless processes and email communications. In those days less than 30% of our clients used email. Now it is almost 100%. We were one of the first firms to file clients personal and company tax returns online. Today there is almost nothing that does not go via the Internet or is managed through our IT infrastructure, whether it is documents being sent to government departments or accounts, tax returns,or other documents being sent to clients. In a policy of continuous improvement we have recently set up a system which enables our clients to access copies of their historic accounts and tax returns, and other documents directly at any time from our systems 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So if you urgently need another copy of your accounts over the weekend or at 3.00 in the morning (yes, we've noticed from our logs that some clients are working at that time ) then you can get it straight from us there and then!

So when you come to us do not expect to see Partners, Managers, Supervisors, Assistants, tax departments, audit departments, business advice departments, VAT departments, etc. You won't be seen by a New Business partner, and then passed on to a Liaison Partner, Manager, or Supervisor. You will see me, and you will continue to see me. You won't have to keep re-explaining your business to a succession of managers or staff.

If you want to deal with a firm with separate departments for everything, don't come to us.

If you want to deal with someone who is committed to your business and to your success and is committed to providing the services and support which you need at a price which is fair to both of us, then you have come to the right place. I look forward to meeting with you. Why not email me now ?
